Dally Auston • "My Life"

Prod. iLLeeT

Dally Auston needs to become a favorite artist for all the Chicagoans out there who like taking their time. No, that's not a dig at Roses, his highly anticipated upcoming project. It's because Dally Auston is taking a stand when it comes to going against the grain of what is considered cool in today's rap. His music is slow yet lively, exceedingly patient with the steadyforce of a painters brush, knowing what the end result will look like regardless of when you get there. This requires a certain, different level of artistic confidence. Jazzy, cinematic, Dally Auston's "My Life" is yet another piece of evidence that the Save Money rapper can succeed with a sound that is his own. His music is old-school cool personified, and "My Life" is no different, off-kilter flow melding into scattered snares and keys from ILLeet to make for a brewing storm as Dally explains why coming into success doesn't happen overnight, and certainly isn't always as easy as it looks. Life and pain are inseparable, a truth inherent to the title of his new project. Roses soon.
