Ishdarr • Broken Hearts & Bankroll
Late. As. Hell. That's what we are to getting this new Ishdarr up on the site. To be honest though, it took a few listens for us to really be able to sit back and offer words on a highly-anticipated full-length from the Milwaukee product we've been following since day one of the site. With all that in mind, Ishdarr knocked it out of the park on Broken Hearts & Bankrolls, his follow-up to last year's Old Soul, Young Spirit.
It's been interesting to watch the development of the Milwaukee scene just a couple hours north that has taken hold in the wake of Chicago's rise to the quintessential rap city of contemporary times. Always the little brother of the Second City, Milwaukee has been pumping out talented acts, many of which performed at TheseDays' first showcase just under a year ago at Chop Shop. To say the least, we've been chomping at the bit for a new project from Ish after being led on by a series of talented singles over the summer months. Here, he keeps things at home, eschewing larger features that are surely within his reach after the rise his last project offered. Possessing a careful understanding of how his voice influences the message he's writing to, he seems able at any moment to stop on a dime, swinging momentum from breathless bars to conversated explanations at a moment's notice. ALready stacking up the numbers on the streaming platforms, Ish obviously is already enjoying the accolades of his work, get into this one for a hot and cold look at the Milwaukee spitter.
