Round Up • New Releases From King Louie, Mpulse, C$ & More

Each week the These Days staff comes across great music from Chicago artists that we could not provide individual features for. In an effort to keep our readers up to date with more of our recent favorites, the Round Up segment provides quick summaries and additional noteworthy content. Check out our latest picks below and feel free to submit a comment if you feel we missed something.

C$ • "Brand New"

It’s been 3 months since Chicago was first introduced to C$ (pronounced "C Money") when he dropped his first mixtape, Moneywave. On C$’s newest track, “Brand New”, it shows his ability to blend thoughtful lyricism with modern trap beats, a recurring theme in Chicago’s hip hop scene.

When you listen to "Brand New", it's hard not to bounce around to the Taylor King Beats instrumental. It is some what reminiscent of C$’s former work as part of the Super Fresh Bros.
If you're looking for an MC with a well rounded lyrical skill set, be sure to check out "Brand New" and his mixtape, Moneywave.

King Louie • "OOOUUU (Remix)"

For King Louie fans it’s been two years since dropping his grounding breaking project, Tony, but now the sequel is on the way. There doesn't seem to be a release date for Tony 2, but the word on the street is that it should be available this month just in time for Halloween. In the mean time King Louie tries his hand at Young M.A.’s “OOOUUU” with a new remix, he reminds his loyal Chicago fans that he’s still the "King of Drill" with some vicious raps and video to accompany them directed by Laka Films.

Monte Booker • "Rock Yo Body"

Chi-Towns well known producer, Monte Booker , slaps us with a fire mix titled "Rock Yo Body", featuring one of our 90’s favorites Justin Timberlake. Also known for his affiliation with well established music collective ‘Soulection’ , Monte comes strong with the well mixed and mastered chill vibes. If you’re a fan of Mr. Monte Booker, then you already know what type of listening thrill you’re in for. And if currently you’re not a Monte fan, then today is your lucky day to become one. Enjoy and most definitely stay locked!

Mpulse • "Can't Be Scared"

Produced by Keef Boyd & Lyle LeDuff, "Can’t Be Scared" talks about the motivation needed to achieve his dreams. The only way to get to where he wants to be, Mpulse understands that he has to take risks to keep growing as an artist. "You say you wanna win, but you can't be scared of losing." Can’t Be Scared is track 6th of the 52 week challenge. Check out Mpluse and the 52 weeks playlist if you need to catch up.

Warhol.SS • "LSD Freestyle"

Now-a-days we should just be expecting brand new music every week from Chicago rising star Warhol. With winter and the end of the year coming, Warhol continues to show no sign of slowing down, as he released another new track, "LSD Freestyle", which is a Dj Stain exclusive. "LSD Freestyle" produced by Lederrick is just another wavy record Warhol has been able to bless us with. Stay in tuned with Warhol because you never know he could drop another surprise soon!
