Round Up • New Releases From Max Wonders, Legit, Black Matt & More

Each week the These Days staff comes across great music from Chicago artists that we could not provide individual features for. In an effort to keep our readers up to date with more of our recent favorites, the Round Up segment provides quick summaries and additional noteworthy content. Check out our latest picks below and feel free to submit a comment if you feel we missed something.

Black Matt • "Blood Sport"

Black Matt and producer RMB Justize team up for a Chicago old Western, and we're not talking about the avenue. The song is called "Bloodsport", with production that'll take you back to Clint Eastwood, Man With No Name flicks, and as you can imagine, it's about missions, duels and plenty of gunplay. Serious subject matter not to be taken lightly, yes, but Black Matt has a way with words that adds the necessary perspective for making it work.

Chai Tulani • "Mocha Brown"

Chai Tulani has one of the freshest local voices right now, smokey, smooth, and devastatingly effective on the hooks. "Mocha Brown" is no different, with killer verses and an even better chorus. What else do you need to know? We've been blessed to premiere some of Chai Tulani's recent stuff, and it's quality like this which keeps us coming back.

Emil • "Novemberly"

Emil's new song "Novemberly" has exactly the vibes that the name suggests, cold, crisp, moving quickly yet taking its time. But to be honest, it's a lot better than this November has been. Production fans will get a kick out of this track's glitchy instrumental tweak-ness, and rap fans will absolutely enjoy Emil's smooth flow and lyricism. Something for everybody, get "Novemberly".

Legit • "a+favor+returned"

A not so new new track from Chicago's Legit. With drops few and far between from this guy, we'll take whatever he throws our way and I can't remember a time we were disappointed. This particular single was first created in November of 2013, but just over three years later, we're finally getting to hear it. A calm and collected instrumental serve as the background for some screwed Legit vocals, a unique but effective approach to this particular record. All the songs elements add to this smooth croon about a girl.

KC • "Yah!!"

I don't know anything about KC, but uh, this song is the shit. Nothing better than finding a killer track out of nowhere, and that's what round ups are all about. "Yah!!" from KC is about as upbeat as the title, laid-back and overflowing with optimism. Sitting at work, my mood just skyrocketed as this song went on, and as far as song praise goes, it doesn't get much better than that. Everyone pissed off right now, just give this a spin and chill TF out.

Max Wonders • "Grow Up"

Max Wonders, the Chicago native who left us for the left coast has still got a place in our hearts and playlists. Revisiting his Hues To Blame mixtape that dropped in September, Max and director Quinton Dominguez move through the desert and Las Vegas in the visuals for "Grow Up". No time  to play games, Max Wonders is all grown up and continues to grow into a strong artist with each release. Listen to the rest of Hues To Blame immediately if you haven't already.

Sunny Woodz (Ft. Supa Bwe, BigBodyFiji, Warhol.ss, UG Vavy & Twista) • "Fiji Water Freestyle"

One of the hottest playmakers out there, Sunny Woodz, is back on the scene doing what he does best and thats pulling Chicago's hip-hop artists together. On his latest drop titled "FIJI Water Freestyle" Woodz brings together Supa Bwe, Big Body Fiji, Warhol.ss, UG Vavy and Twista. Let's be real, does a lineup get better than that? It would be the best concert ever. Give this track a spin and stay on your toes as Woodz and his friends keeps delivering greatness to the scene. Enjoy!
