Kami • "Foundation"

Kami is making the most of his 2016 as we begin to close up what has been a crazy year. Three weeks ago, Kami made a stellar reintroduction with his song "Home Movies" and a corresponding music video that'll go down as one of the year's best. A visual nostalgia trip, the song was upbeat and feel-good, a romance packed with synths and an 80's vibe. With his follow-up, "Foundation", Kami moving it into the darker, heavier, and more familiar territory for Leather chords fans. The fantastic feel of "Home Movies" is replaced by "Foundation's" lurching reality, a step into Kami's day-to-day life, and Kami's lyrical talent is on full display here. As important is the production from Knox Fortune, rocking, a whirling blackhole, staring into the abyss (sounds like also provided some vocals towards the end too) . Stating at the beginning, "My name is Kami, and my life is just like the movies", it's his honesty that makes the song work. I think it's an easy statement to make that "Foundation" is one of the best songs of the last couple months. Kami's album Just Like The Movies should arrive early next year, so look forward to that as well.
