Qari • "Fabienne" (Prod. Mulatto Beats)
Well, I guess start getting used to the fact that we'll be seeing a lot of new music in the coming weeks and months from Qari and the rest of the former Hurt Everybody crew. Perhaps the act that was the most prolific in releasing an endless barrage of music that was a catalyst in their rise to notoriety, we've certainly seen plenty from each since the break up and today Qari returns alongside Mulatto Beats for a very dope new single in "Fabienne".
Whereas the Hurt Everybody works relied heavily on emotional context and mosh-pit-inducing bass complementing aggressive wordplay, Qari's work since has had a distinctly different tone. After stepping out as a newly formed solo act alongside his daughter Lodi in the video for "Caterpillar Butterfly" and similarly eschews being loud with being thoughtful on this saxophone-infused down-tempo jam that puts dude's forever clever rhyme schemes front and center. At 19, Qari is very much just growing into himself and with tracks like these it's nice to see him easing into that process with a calculated mindset. Check out "Fabienne" above.
