Cam O'bi • "Loti's Dreamland"
Named after Qari's daughter, the newest track from Cam O'bi is a two minute instrumental that sounds like a daycare playground. Soothing vocal samples and happy baby cries lead to crackling daydreams and dripping percussion. The pink Kirby artwork further soars the composition into outer space, enhancing the dreamland. This track is a prime example to remind the world of the talented Chicago artist hunkering down in Los Angeles, hard at work on something serious. While this appears to be a loose track, it certainly acts as something to hold us all over until we hear his anticipated LP. This drop is much appreciated as it is Cam's first solo piece in about a year. That being said, he's been building his production discography by working with plenty of talented artists like Telana, Saba, Towkio, Rejjie Snow, Chance The Rapper, Noname Gypsy, and even Lil' Wayne.
With Carter Lang on the acoustic guitar and synths, “Loti's Dreamland” is an all Chicago affair. Look out for much more from Cam, as producer Monte Booker recently ran a picture of him at Truth Studios with Cam and THEMpeople member L Boog. I can only imagine the kind of heaters they sculpted. Also, if you need more from Cam, be sure to check out his production on FiendBassy's track “Too High to Riot”, off of his album of the same name that dropped last week.
