Tony Brooks • YNOT
The Chicago scene is varied and well-versed and at the core of that is a multi-functional group of acts and creativity that often come together in varied ways to create something wholly new and interesting. It's with that in mind that Tony Brooks pieced together this collection, fittingly titled YNOT, that dropped earlier this week, thrusting a sub-section of the city forward in a four-track project that is an easy listen and adds nicely to the dynamic of the collective as a whole.
Making appearances here are Roosevelt The Titan and Blake Davis, with production quilted down by a few locals. In YNOT Tony really gets an opportunity to explore his artistry in a more complete way, dipping and diving through tracks that serve as a well-timed and open-minded introduction to a face that is easily recognizable at your local rap show or event. Light and upbeat for the most part, the project is a short, sweet homage to the pineapple that Tony has come to represent it. Couldn't be happier for Tony here, this is just a furtherance of the kind of talent that permeates to the ground floor of this place we call home.
