It was a year ago yesterday that Donnie Trumpet and the Social Experiment offered up SURF, the first free release on iTunes. While it seems like just yesterday and quiickly in the wake of Chance The Rapper's recent Coloring Books release, Donnie decided to celebrate by offering up a new single, "The First TIme" from the collective and all it's tributaries including Cam O'bi and J.P Floyd.

This one clocks in at just under eleven minutes and seems to be a cut left on the editing floor as Donnie, the maestro of this project, carefully shaped the ultra-collaborative album which memorably brought together big-name acts with local mainstays. "The First TIme" has all the feels and aesthetics of the project itself and serves as a welcome entry into the journal that is the soX team. No word yet on what's next for the guys in terms of a follow up to SURF but there had been rumblings of each member taking the reigns for a go-around. We'll have to see about that but for now enjoy a new, long one from the guys.
