Melo & Kweku Collins • "Evicted"

Man, it really is beautiful when the voices of this city come together. The city has truly benefitted from the consistent collaboration across cliques, borders and ideologies and that continues this week as we get another talented joint effort as Melo (no relation to PIVOT) teams up with Closed Sessions' Kweku Collins for a new single, "Evicted".

Production here comes from another face on the rise in Martin $ky, who continues to flex his abilities on both sides of the game, making sure in the process to keep his name popping up with frequency in a variety of ways. With his help, the two rappers create a sort of sonic juxtaposition that underlines where each comes from in a way, coming together for a sort of fully-realized view on something millions deal with on a daily basis.

It's awesome to hear any parts of the city come together however possible, and in this case they each seem to play off one another. Melo takes some leaps into Kweku-esque mantras that actually come through, albeit distinctly outside what we've come to expect (the beauty of collabs). Enjoy "Evicted", the furtherance of the Chicago Renaissance and all its players. We'll have more coming for you later this week, for now put this one on repeat for a few plays.
