Towkio (Ft. Joey Purp) • "Playin Fair"
Savemoney most definitely isn't playing fair these days. Since Spring, #SavemoneySummer has been in full effect. In short order, Sterling Hayes released Antidepressant, Chance gave us Coloring Book, Joey Purp unveiled iiiDrops & Vic Mensa dropped his There's A Lot Going On mixtape. Not to be left out, Towkio, who recently celebrated the one year anniversary of his debut manifesto .wav theory, pops out over some monstrous production from two of Savemoney's go-to producers Smoko Ono & Garren. Alongside Purp, these two show just how uneven the playing field is for all these other artists going forward.
The song itself is a heater, the perfect summer jam for this slew of 90 degree days we're experiencing. The beat is hot and in most hands would be the best part of the track. Not during #SavemoneySummer though, where not one bar can be wasted, and on "Playin Fair" Towkio and Joey Purp each take part in what can only be described as lyrical domination. The SaveMoney ascendance continues, and it's looking like no amount of dirty tricks can knock them off their Chicago throne right now.
