It's no secret that Chicago is a city built on hustle, it's a sentiment that is inescapable even for someone raised outside the reach of the Second City. That much is evident in the innate hustle of DC-native Daryn Alexus and longtime collaborator Dee Lilly who have backpacked their way across just about every stage in the city over the last few years, creating in the process a really dope sound that has found itself in recent releases and continues on their latest one, "Dream".

A short vocal arrangement over easily-recognizable Dee Lilly backing, Daryn goes sultry over the funky production, offering a peek into what's to come on her upcoming full-length which should serve as the first in a minute. This song itself is actually the first single in a few months from Daryn, who was in the house last night at Canvas' Primer event, further underlining that need to get the work done that has put her in a really unique position at the center of 2016. It'll be fun to see the rise continue and for someone else to start carrying the backpacks and pianos soon! For now, "Dream" along with one of the best duos the city has to offer.
