Mick Jenkins (Ft. BADBADNOTGOOD) • "Drowning"
Directed by Nathan R. Smith
Mick Jenkins has had one hell of a week. On August 17, we heard "Spread Love", the lead single to his upcoming full-length, The Healing Component. Following that drop, Mick made his way onto a track with Calez and Alex Wiley called "Still Good". Shortly after that, he had a feature on oddCouple's new single alongside WebsterX. THEN (for real), he was on an Alex Wiley track called "Automatic". All of this in the last nine days.
Now, to continue keeping all eyes on Mr. Jenkins for the remainder of August and into September (his album drops 09/23), he has released the second single for The Healing Component. This time around, it comes in the form of a short film/music video. With production from Toronto instrumental trio BADBADNOTGOOD, the video showcases Mick Jenkins' vision, one screenshot at a time. Cinematic from the start, and full of narratives on race, cleansing, and, yes, water, this video does nothing but continue the strong visual history of Mick Jenkins, one that caught on with "Martyrs", but one that been visible even sooner, back with "Chicago" three years ago.
