Premiere • Sam Trump (Ft. Bella Bahhs): "MasterPEACE"

"...and as long as it inspires, consider it a work of art."

Sam Trump continues his streak of new releases with "MasterPEACE", a record featuring a guest verse from fellow Chicagoan Bella Bahhs and the resurrection of an old instrumental that Sam produced himself. Like many musicians, Sam creates a lot, but not everything is meant to be released, at least not immediately upon completion. "MasterPEACE" is one of those records that needed to age for a bit before blessing your speakers. While the verses from both Sam and Bella are relatively new, the production goes back to 2009, which Sam goes into detail about below.

Masters of their lives and their peace, Sam and Bella take this record to breakdown the importance of self realization and their ability to achieve this notion through relationships with others. The concept works differently for different people, but both Sam and Bella have allowed their journey to self realization inspire and feed their hunger for music. This record like those before it is meant to be a loose single, but there is more music on the way from Sam Trump and company when the time is right. Learn more about "MasterPEACE" and what's on the horizon for Sam below in a short Q&A we had the pleasure doing.

Can you tell us a little about the concept of "MasterPEACE"

The concept of MasterPEACE is based on contentment and self-realization.

With my verses I speak on mastering peace in relationships with others, within myself, through my art, and with the one God. Bella Bahhs' verse is so hot, and it speaks on her contentment and self realization through her late Grandmother's influence. After we recorded this song, Bella explained that this was the first time she was able to fully express her sentiment, since the passing of her beloved Grandmother. Bella's verse serves as a dedication to her Grandmother's life and legacy.

Who's behind the production here?

I produced this track back in 2009 when I use to produce a little (I produced my very first EP "Making Music Like It's Love Vol.1"). It was an old idea that resurfaced, and I was like, "man I really should do something with this." I wrote the hook and ran into Bella shortly afterwards.

Is this your first time working with Bella Bahhs? How did that come about?

This is my first time working with Bella Bahhs, and hopefully not the last!

At the video shoot for my most recent single "Brother", Bella and I were catching up and we started expressing our mutual desire to collab. I told her I had the perfect track, and it was this one! I came up with the hook like two days before, so it was super fresh in my mind and I sung it to her, and she was diggin the concept. Man, I sent the song to her the next day, and she had this verse the following day! Boss!

She came through to record later on in the month for about 2hrs and we spent like 30min laying down her verse, and the rest of the time choppin it up, talking about all things inspiring. Bella is a kindred spirit.

Is this something we can expect to see on an upcoming Sam Trump project? What can you tell us about that?

Well, this particular song is a loose single, which is what I'm in the business of releasing right now - songs that stand alone...and I'll do what I can to push the single as far as it can carry, meanwhile creating more buzz and awareness. This song will hopefully create more awareness for Bella Bahhs as well cause she's a Boss!

I do have a project on deck with Calvin Valentine, (producer of recent singles, "Brother" and "Count On Me") and when the buzz is right, we'll drop it. It's all in exquisite timing though.
