Quinn Tsan • "Dreamers"

There's been plenty breaking out of the city lately with immediate national success and beyond from the city these days, but for some it's a slower burn that grows and develops more slowly, more naturally; a bit more poetically if you will. It's in that vein that we've always enjoyed local indie act Quinn Tsan, who jumped back into the headlines this week with the release of a video for her single, "Dreamers".

Emanating from an endlessly-eclectic side of the city that has produced acts like Marrow, Homme, Whitney, The Fly Honeys and more, Tsan has never ceased to impress with her careful vocal range and eye-opening sense for a note's half-life. Currently still in the wake of her standout 2015 project, Good Winter, this latest piece gives listeners an idea of directions headed in upcoming works. The video is a very cool aside to the music itself, serving as a sort of avant-garde offering that was designed and directed by Julia Miller ,filmed by Maren Celest and even features puppetry by Lizi Breit and Sam Deutsch. The piece is a memorable illustration of the message behind the song that uses a cross-section of different artistic mediums to achieve a collaborative exploration of the idea of thankless dreamers looking for affirmation. If you haven't had the chance to stumble into Quinn's music as of yet, this one should serve as a perfect entrance point. If you dig it? Get out of your house and catch Quinn at Constellation next month where she'll be headlining on November 10. For now, enjoy the video above.
