Bonelang • Venn Diagrams (Pt. I)
Bonelang is something very different, for those looking to switch up their music diets. Composed of Samy Language and Matt Bones, these two vocalists rap over left-field beats (that sound very much like live instrumentals, still not sure if I was listening to a band or not) that take their time and eventually wash over you, wavy and psychedelic and very welcoming. Their new project is called Venn Diagrams Pt. 1, an EP dripping with character, whether from the wild instrumentals or the intuitive vocals from Samy and Matt. Like with most hip-hop today, there's a healthy dose of singing mixed in with bars, and what makes Venn Diagrams Pt. 1 and Bonelang stand out is their patience, taking their time and always moving their tracks in unexpected directions. Some tracks seem to hit the standard verse - chorus format, but all of a sudden the synths are getting weird and the tracks are building with an almost poetic feel to the vocals. Venn Diagrams Pt. 1 is unusual and fantastic. Give it a listen and see what you think!
