Round Up • New Releases From Monster Mike, Adam Ness, Melo Makes Music & More

Each week the These Days staff comes across great music from Chicago artists that we could not provide individual features for. In an effort to keep our readers up to date with more of our recent favorites, the Round Up segment provides quick summaries and additional noteworthy content. Check out our latest picks below and feel free to submit a comment if you feel we missed something.

Adam Ness • "Handle My Business"

Adam Ness; now this is a guy doesn’t stray away from displaying his feelings through his music. That’s why I would be inclined to call his music R&B. His lyrics are authentic and full of soul. He shares his personal battles, emotions, and revelations, especially in his newest song, “Handle My Business.” The song is produced by Professor Fox, who also has a massive body of work of his own that shouldn’t be slept on. These two work well together creating a dripping melody and catchy tune that will get your body moving. Listen to the full track below.

Grown Adolescence (Ft. Supa Bwe) • "Down [Rough]"

They’re calling it a "rough mix," but honestly had they not told us that up front, I probably wouldn’t have realized that this song isn’t fully polished. The song called “Down” comes from Grown Adolescence, a crew of three up and coming rappers and producers including Isaiah G, Aaron Deux, and Devon Culbert. The track also features the always-scheming Supe Bwe himself. The supple production comes from Aaron Deux, who’s birthday was the reason that these guys decided to release the track a little early in the first place. Hit play below and see what Grown Adolescence is all about.

Klevah (Ft. Sunny Ture) • "Chop It Up (Remix)"

It may be a remix, but it seems that no matter what Klevah touches shines. In collaboration with Sunny Ture, Klevah created a remix of “Chop It Up,” which will also be featured on their collective upcoming mixtape, Taxi To The Sun. The song, which was also produced by J Dilla, is a release for Klevah to show off her abilities as a sharp rapper and a soulful vocalist. We’re looking forward to the release of Taxi To The Sun, but let this smooth remix hold you over until then.

Lucki • "don't you love me" & "SUNSET"

Today we’re excited to share with you two new releases from Chicago’s own Lucki. Its a split single called Days B4 Storm, featuring just two songs titled “SUNSET,” produced by UglyFriend1, and “don’t you love me,” produced by cortdot. In the latter, Lucki breaks away from talking about drugs and the trap to talk about love and some of the various ideals of love and relationships; while in "SUNSET", he brings us one of his classic trap bangers. This is a prelude to Lucki’s upcoming mixtape, Watch My Back for which Lucki also just dropped the full tracklist.

Melo Makes Music (Ft. Taylor Bennett) • "Sleepless"

Melo Makes Music, but he’s also making a massive splash on the local music scene. Along with Taylor Bennett and production by Martin $ky in his newest song “Sleepless,” we have a dream team on our hands right here. Melo makes it clear that this song, and his music in general, is for everyone; those without a voice, those who feel their opinions aren’t being heard, and those who just can’t sleep through the long nights.

Monster Mike • "Swang (Remix)", "Friends & "Imsuparaw 1.5"

Monster Mike started our week off right this past Tuesday by releasing a trio of new tracks and remixes. He started it off with a bold remix of Rae Sremmurd’s hit track “Swang” before moving forward with the song “Friends,” which shows off what we know Monster Mike for best; his hard and unfiltered lyrics. “Friends” is also produced by Chicagoan Luke Almighty, who created a classic and dark instrumental. Finally we round out the group of new releases with “Imsuparaw 1.5.” In this song featuring a lighter beat produced by Linus and Kishie brings us full circle by showing off another side of Monster Mike’s personality as an artist. He’s still straightforward with his lyrics, but he takes on a softer tone over the airy beat.
