Pitchfork Music Festival has continued its tradition of sprinkling in a handful of Chicago acts into its summer lineup. Pitchfork returns to the West Loop’s Union Park on Friday, September 10th through Sunday, September 12th, 2021 after a year hiatus due to COVID-19 (last year’s fest was eventually cancelled in May 2020). This year’s lineup is headlined by Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent and Erykah Badu with additional performances by Big Thief, Angel Olsen, Flying Lotus, Animal Collective, Kim Gordon and Thundercat. Other stand outs include Danny Brown, Jay Electronica, Faye Webster, Yaeji, Yves Tumour, Caroline Polachek, Andy Shauf, Kelly Lee Owens, Maxo Kream and more. Check out the full lineup below.

Chicago acts throughout the festival weekend include a return performance from Jamila Woods, who last performed at the fest in 2017. Three piece trio DEHD will perform in the wake of their 2020 standout album Flower of Devotion (included in our 2020 Albums of the Year list). Psychedelic quartet Divino Niño will bring their daytime festival ready tunes after being originally announced on the cancelled 2020 line-up. The band’s 2019 release Foam was on These Days Album of the Year 2019 list. Chicago-bred singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer KeiyaA will perform what she tweeted as “my first real solo show at home” in support of her 2020 album Forever, Ya Girl. What’s a Chicago festival without some juke & footwork? — the Westside’s own DJ Nate will bring it to the Pitchfork stage on Friday. Horsegirl — one of These Days Artists to Watch 2021 will make their music festival debut after signing to Matador Records this past Spring. The Chicago trio released their debut EP Ballroom Dance Scene et cetera in 2020 and will play Saturday. Angel Olsen who spent much of her early career in and around the Chicago will also return to the festival, last performing in 2017.
