Jeremih & Chance The Rapper • Merry Christmas Lil' Mama
Didn't see this one coming, but if any contemporary artists made a Christmas album I'm glad it's Chance The Rapper and Jeremih. This isn't the first time Chance and Jeremih joined forces, but it is the first of this magnitude. We've been hearing rumors for months about a joint album with Chance and Childish Gambino, but this creation right here has been carefully kept under wraps with a bow on top.
Unlike other Christmas albums you may have heard, Merry Christmas Lil' Mama is far from a compilation of your favorite traditional Christmas songs, but rather something entirely new with a distinct Chicago feel to it (obviously). The tracklist doesn't list any features, but Hannibal Burress, Noname, Lud Foe and others can be heard contributing throughout and making it a real Chicago affair. Reminiscing of some of his favorite holiday past times, curving any negative energy and even getting a juke joint in at the end of this 9 track EP, Chance has your Christmas morning soundtrack all figured out for you. Merry Christmas Lil' Mama, and everyone else too.
In this work you can see Chance trying his best to do the right thing for himself, his family, the community, as well as the country, the activism role we have come to know and love.
