Chance The Rapper • "The Man Who Has Everything"
Chicago's own, Chance the Rapper just dropped 2 songs in the later hours of Thursday night, “The Man Who Has Everything”, and “My Own Thing” featuring Joey Purp. “The Man Who Has Everything” features Chance rapping in a seemingly discouraged or even hopeless tone over a mellow beat while the lyrics take over. A possible ode to the time of year, the Holidays always being a scramble to get people gifts. In this work you can see Chance trying his best to do the right thing for himself, his family, the community, as well as the country, the activism role we have come to know and love. Many lines start with the preface of “What in the world for the man who has everything?”, followed by not things that Chance wants for himself but for his city, his family, and the good of humanity. With his most recent release being the four song drop in the Summer, this could be the start of more new music from Chance this holiday like we’ve seen during over the past two years.
