One of the biggest news stories to hit the local scene this year was certainly the disintegration of the Hurt Everybody collective. While I swear I'll stop opening posts from the former members with that soon, the cut is still fairly deep. Luckily, all sides of the former group have been hard at work and today Qari returned from SXSW with yet another collaboration with Mulatto Beats in this one, "Black Yamasaki".

Here we again find Qari focusing in real hard on the lyrical side of things as he ruminates on the subtleties of life. Since the split, Qari seems to have looked within himself for what's next and the songs that have manifested themselves from that inward journey have been at once intrspective and a great glimpse into the kind of work we can expect from the young father moving forward. It's conversational without being overbearingly so, music but with a distinct laid-back tendency. Check it out streaming above.
