Goodbye Tomorrow • "Back It Down"

Directed by Unknown // Words by Allen Hotchkiss

Goodbye Tomorrow impresses again by artfully bringing a heavy concept to light in their second single of 2016, "Back It Down". With this track, the retrofuturist guerrilla art collective showcases the power struggle between a couple and how outside influences can negatively distort the truth between them. You can feel that tension in the opening vocals of the track and they carry it through nicely to the end.

In their video, Goodbye Tomorrow widens their focus to a societal level by tackling how social media can shape our perception of sex. We see a man getting lost in a neo-digital city filled with screen-faced women and trippy distractions. He represents how we can find ourselves living in “a sort of prison based on our own biases and prejudices.” We are challenged to be aware of all of our influences and to not blame individuals if the larger digital environment is to blame.

Check out the video and keep an eye out for the new EP Tunnel Stripe Exit Ramp to be released on June 17!
