Round Up • New Releases From Freako, G Herbo, Lud Foe & More

Each week the These Days staff comes across great music from Chicago artists that we could not provide individual features for. In an effort to keep our readers up to date with more of our recent favorites, the Round Up segment provides quick summaries and additional noteworthy content. Check out our latest picks below and feel free to submit a comment if you feel we missed something.

Freako • "Find"

Sometimes keeping it short and simple is the easiest way to go about your feelings. In less than two minutes, we get a chilling rendition from Freako called "Find". Never to the point of redundant, the rapper finds a way to compress the often vast and complicated notions of a botched relationship in a single verse.

G Herbo • "Hail Mary (Remix)"

Within 45 seconds of listening to this track, my headphones caught fire from the amount of heat G Herbo spits. A constant innovator in the drill movement, G Herbo sets the bar extremely high with his "Hail Mary (Remix)". Elaborate and steady flowing rhyme schemes keep the track extra fresh, you can easily replay the song on multiple occasions to catch lines that go completely over your head at first.

Lud Foe • "Fed Up"

If you have your ear to the streets, you’d know that Lud Foe is on a roll this summer. Warranting massive success from his single "Cuttin Up", which grabbed the attention of Lil Durk for the official remix, Lud Foe has a knack for giving his audience what they want. "Fed Up" has that same amount of niche detail to it with Lud Foe’s signature magic. If you still haven’t gotten your Lud Foe fix yet, he announced two mixtapes, Boochie Gang Vol. 1 and No Hook, which are currently slated for the summer.

DJ Sawbuck • "4750"

Take a trip down to 4750 S Union with the premier of a new mixtape premiered by Sawbuck featuring KP and Rooski. Rooski and KP of 197 reminisce on their early days in the trap, coming up together. For anyone familiar with Chicago hip-hop, then you've noticed the moves 197 has been making. These two continue their grimy, lyrical style over five new songs produced by Spanish Diego and Arch By Architect. Check out the EP below and get familiar with DJ Sawbuck, KB and Rooski.
