Round Up • New Releases From John Walt, Krewella, Ransah & More

Each week the These Days staff comes across great music from Chicago artists that we could not provide individual features for. In an effort to keep our readers up to date with more of our recent favorites, the Round Up segment provides quick summaries and additional noteworthy content. Check out our latest picks below and feel free to submit a comment if you feel we missed something.

John Walt (Ft. Smack) • "We Dem Niggas"

In lieu of the highly anticipated Dinner With John project, John Walt has been delivering a string of satisfying singles over the past few months and "We Them Niggas" is no exception. A demo track at the moment, but Walt's new song has the potential to possibly evolve into something more, dare I say for the project?! Produced by Saba and featuring Smack, "We Them Niggas" is just the latest gem among many that the Pivot Gang has been delivering lately.

Krewella • "Broken Record"

It’s not often we get to cover mainstream EDM on These Days, so it’s always a treat to see our locally grown Krewella come out with new material so we can talk about it. The lovely Yousaf sisters release their first music video from their Ammunition EP that dropped in late May. "Broken Record" returns to the roots of Krewella’s inception with hair raising vocals over producer John Curtis’ backdrop.

Ransah • "6am in Hades"

It's another banger from Plu20 Nash, production wiz kid that has brought out bars from some of the best rappers Chicago has to offer. You may know him primarily from his work with Lucki Eck$ but just as prevalent lately has been his efforts with 197's Ransah. The vibe is old-school and Ransah's casual flow creeps over Nash's beat work effortlessly. Play this one late night.

Rich Robbins • "Chop Up The Soul"

"Chop Up The Soul" is straight homage to Chicago’s most influential rapper, Kanye West. Love him or hate him, there’s no denying the fact that so many rappers have looked up to him as a role model as they grew with his music throughout childhood. What better day to release a Yeezy inspired song than the man's birthday? Happy belated Kanye!. Rich Robbin’s full length project All This Gold finally has a release date and is expected July 1st.

TLNTD (Ft. Kiyah Mitchell) • "Fall"

Our first glimpse at TLNTD’s new EP, eXpectations, is here. "Fall" is a strong track and slightly genre bending with it’s blend of soulful singing provided by newcomer Kiyah Mitchell and melodic yet electro inspired instrumental produced by Epidemic. With no release date for eXpectations yet, our expectation for the project is extremely high as TLNTD has dropped nothing but gold for the past few months.

Young Wolf • "Sheem"

Young Wolf brings the heat with "Sheem", a heavy track that gives the Oak Park rapper the opportunity to show off just what he can do in terms of riding a beat. The production is provided by Von Vuai, driving and heavy. The track is named after Wolf's friend and fellow 3ABM member Sheem, and evidently Young Wolf wanted to give him one hell of a shoutout.
