Ravyn Lenae • "Free Room" & Moon Shoes Re-Release
This past Monday, Westley Parker and I hosted the latest edition of our monthly Yung Creatives talk show at Soho House. This time around we were lucky enough to borrow some time from 17-year-old wunderkind Ravyn Lenae, who stepped out last year with her exquisite debut, Moon Shoes EP which has since stablished her as one of the most exciting and refreshing young talents creating in the city today. Building on a year that has seen her work with some of the biggest names in the city or otherwise, Lenae decided to offer fans a little more this week with a re-release of her seminal project packaged with two new songs and a visual for her song, "Free Room" featuring Appleby.
While one the show, Lenae explain that while Moon Shoes feels like a tightly-wound project, it was actually recorded as a purely organic process of creativity incubated at Classick Studios amongst what has become the Zero Fatigue team. Talking further she let us know plans for a follow up project are well underway as she enjoys the waning freedom of summer months which she's spent, among other things, making her festival debut which came in June performing alongside Monte Booker at Mamby on the Beach. There's certainly big things ahead for the soon-to-be high school senior and as she approaches a school year that will surely see her juggle a packed schedule, the Zero Fatigue label seems as appropriate as ever. Luckily, Ravyn appears to have all the tools to navigate that crowded landscape and emerge on the other side as an enduring talent.
