Trapo • "Officer Down" & "Match Freestyle"
Wrapping up a huge year in 2016, Madison's Trapo hits the ground running in 2017 with the release of a pair of loose singles. Ahead of his Shade Trees release, Trapo was great about sharing new music, some of which was recorded just hours before hitting the internet. The Wisconsin emcee's creative transparency had his listeners feeling like they're a part of the recording process and part of Trapo's inner circle, even if it was just for a short period of time.
Most of Trapo's spontaneous releases were only shared temporarily, so all the more reason to take a listen to "Officer Down" and "Match Freestyle" immediately. It's unclear if these two recent offerings were leftovers from Shade Trees, or just the result of a surge of creative spirit, but either way Trapo once again has our full attention. "Officer Down" is just 55 seconds long, but the single verse and chorus gets the message across with time to spare. You's think "Match Freestyle" would approach lighter topics, ones you might just need a lighter for, but that's not the case. Diving right into the trials and tribulations of an up and coming artist, match or not, Trapo has problems just like everyone else.
