Round Up • New Releases From Cassius Tae, Mojek, Loud Mouth & More

Each week the These Days staff comes across great music from Chicago artists that we could not provide individual features for. In an effort to keep our readers up to date with more of our recent favorites, the Round Up segment provides quick summaries and additional noteworthy content. Check out our latest picks below and feel free to submit a comment if you feel we missed something.

Cassius Tae • "When I Need You Most"

His first single since his debut project "New Beginnings," Chicago MC Cassius Tae releases “When I Need U Most” Produced by Sango with additional vocals by Deja Marie. The new song finds Tae trenched deep in the pains of love. Fortunately for us and Tae, there’s a happy ending. Cassius has a unique way of telling stories. Although his songs mimic the ingredients of an R&B track, his delivery is quite different. No signs of a new project just yet, but you can digest the new single below.

Je$$e • "Shotgun"

"Shotgun" is a banging first single from the forthcoming project by Je$$e. While most people know Je$$e as one half of the established Chicago duo theWHOevers, he stands strong on his own, letting his finely tuned voice wash over the track creating a space for R&B bliss. This wonderful song is infused with swagger, with light bongos and claps peppered over a deep and slow beat. Je$$e is no doubt a talented vocalist looking to make a strong statement with the solo album, and if this song serves as an indicator, it will be a fun project that will be on repeat in the Windy City.

Loud Mouth • "Don't Slip"

The west side native Loud Mouth returns with more Chicago grime. His new track “Don’t Slip” is produced by AlexLappano and long time collaborator D.R.O. After a year long hiatus, the Stank Face Records artist makes a triumphant return back to the scene with yet another banger. If you’ve heard Loud’s music before, you already know how hard these beats go. If you were curious, there’s absolutely no shortage in skill since we last heard from him. Check out the new song here.

Mojek • "Cheap Thrills"

Strolling into the round up this week is Chicago’s Mojek with “CHEAP THRILLS”. Mojek is in the process of a solid year. Knocking down three consistent releases, “WAIT” and “BINGO” are marks of an accomplished artist. This makes sense when looking at his track record. In the past four years he’s made nearly ten projects: 119 Presents: World Of Mojek and Depressed Mojek✌ just to name a few. You may remember his song “The World” featuring Ric Wilson, it came from the 119 project last year. The new track’s production, exclusively from Mojek, is a promising mix of mysterious synths and retro sub frequencies. Be on the lookout for more and listen to the new track below.

Rich Gains (Ft. Freddie Gibbs, ZZ Ward & Nico Segal) • "7 Digits"

2017 has been good to the Blended Babies. Rich Gains (1/2 of the producer duo) recently released a compilation titled “Gains”. In one of the standout features, Rich Gains accompanied by Freddie Gibbs, ZZ Ward, and The Social Experiement’s Nico Segal bring us ”7 Digits”. Rich and Nico comprising the soulful melodies, allow Ward and Gibbs to let loose. I’m sure we’ll hear more from the Blended Babies this year, but allow this track to hold you over
