Valee (Ft. D.R.A.M.) • "About U
2018 was a breakout year for Valee: he signed the dotted line with G.O.O.D. Music, continued his prolific release run, and saw his style be ripped off by countless rappers. But for every biter that profited without acknowledging his influence, there was someone who actually paid respects and collaborated with the Chicagoan. In the past year alone, Valee teamed up with Z Money, KAMI, Jeremih, Smino, and many more, with each single pushing his collaborators’ sound a bit more left-field and suave.
His last record of the year, “About You,” is a partnership with D.R.A.M. and oft-producer in crime Chase The Money. The result is a brooding cut with hard-hitting bass, poltergeist-type synths and Valee rapping the chorus in a higher octave. D.R.A.M. compliments Valee’s oddball steez well with a scene-stealing verse that includes highlights such as “I got rich two times in one lifetime, finna get rich again” and “I get paid a scholarship, just for playing colleges.” It’s safe to say “About U” is a hit, so hit play above and enjoy one more standout Valee track this year that will surely carry onto 2019.
