“DON’T CLIP” marks the first Frank Leone release since he officially moved to California back in October and it builds on his own fantastical universe. Bearing a strong semblance of what 2018 has felt like, “DON’T CLIP” is chaotic and feral. Oscillating between different vocal pitches, cadences, and sonic textures, Frank grieves on record: “been so sick, so weak, so long.” There are sprinkles of consolation enshrouded by its overlaying somber tone, but they’re heard through MONTGOMERY’s guitar, the lush harmonies in the bridge and Frank reminding himself that he can smoke to stay grounded.

The song isn’t attached to any project yet. But the Illinois native kept himself busy, he recently landed a production credit on Deem Spencer’s newest single “is” and there are rumors that he was recently in the studio with Adamn Killa. The move to L.A. might prove to be the catalyst of his best work to date.
