RYEN • "Hyper"
RYEN capped off 2018 with his debut EP, 24, a statement piece that cemented his place as a promising up-and-comer in Chicago’s crowded scene and hinted at a potential global superstar in the making. It’s hard to pick a favorite cut from the project, but “Hyper” perhaps encapsulates his most appealing attributes best. A versatile artist, in this fast-paced record he flaunts his ability to seamlessly switch back-and-forth between Spanish and English as he rejoices in debauchery: “Hola mami welcome to the motherfuckin’ baile / perico en la nariz para que tu te pongas hyper.”
“Hyper” served as 24’s closing track and is now his first video release of the year. Here, we find RYEN in a world beyond the law and moderation surrounded by customized whips, Belaire bottles and bright lights. Director just.untitled delivers on the promise of the song’s thrilling gratification and proves that RYEN isn’t decelerating anytime soon.
