Two things that have been heavily reported on locally crossed paths late last night as an unnamed assailant fired upon an impromptu rap video shoot in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, hitting four people and killing one.

The news is the latest sombering instance of gun violence in a city that just this past weekend saw three killed and thirty three shot here, just yesterday a toddler was released from the hospital after being shot in the head on APril 15. The latest shooting took place during a makeshift video shoot for local rapper ForeignLyfe. DNAInfo first reported on the news, saying that extras and entourage members. The shooter is still at large, but police have said that cameras rolling on the scene could help find the offender.

The shooting allegedly began at 2:19 AM when someone approached the group in Foster Park in the 1400 block of 84th St and took off running. Hit by the gunfire was 23-year-old Damond Dawson who was shot in the back of the head and died on the scene. Also shot were a 19-year-old hit in the groin, a 20-year-old shot in his leg and shoulder, and an 18-year-old and 25-year-old who suffered bullet grazes.

This shit is getting really ridiculous, to echo the comments of Andrew Barber at FSD. As a city, a community, as a people, there's no reason for this kind of senseless violence. Earlier this year alone we nearly lost King Louie after he was shot in the head while sitting in his car and bullets have taken far too many of this city's youth over the years. Here's to hoping for a speedy recovery for those hospitalized and prayers to the family of Damond Dawson.
