Chance The Rapper & Friends Release Song for US Olympians

The country, the Olympics, the world at large seems to be rife with problems, issues and general divisiveness. While this edition of the Summer Games has been marred by Zika virus, political issues and waning attendance, Chance The Rapper and a sub-sect of our local Chicago musicians were once again prepared to remind everyone the real meaning behind the games, issuing a video with Nike for his single "We The People" as a sort of inspiration for the boys down in Rio.

With Pat The Manager running amok through the city's favelas, Chance once again made his presence apparent and seems to be paying close attention to the Games themselves, tweeting on several occasions in support of Evanston native and USA Swimming participant Conor Dwyer. The track itself is in line with Chance's recent ESPY's performance where he serenaded the late Muhammed Ali alongside Jamila Woods and The Social Experiment. Here, Smoko Ono, DPhelps and Jack Red handle the backing duty on a single that to me recalls the heydey of R. Kelly's career a la "World's Greatest" etc. Regardless, it's apparent our hometown guys are setting the pace for the world at large as our athletes continue to take care of business on the medal stand.
