Chicago is about to get a massive new music venue. Radius is a brand-new independently owned and operated music venue coming to Chicago’s East Pilsen neighborhood in March 2020. The 55,000 square foot multipurpose event space (primarily focused on music) has a capacity ranging from 2,500 to 3,800 people. The first set of shows at Radius include electronic music producer & DJ Dillon Francis, house and techno legend Carl Cox, future house producer Tchami, hip-hop legend Lil Wayne, metalcore band Killswitch Engage with August Burns Red and Light The Torch, punk rock bands Alkaline Trio and Bad Religion, and Australian psych-rock band King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Tickets for these “opening shows” are set to go on-sale December 13th, 2019 at 12:00PM CST at radius-chicago.com; additionally a full list of ticket links can be found below.

Radius (an old steel factory) is located in the the East Pilsen neighborhood at 640 W. Cermak Road. The new venue’s exterior features three distinct murals created by Chicago’s Lefty Out There, LA’s Thank You X, and Vienna’s NYCHOS. A press release notes “the venue is equipped with a state of the art D&B KSL sound system, exceptional acoustics, a mezzanine level to host VIP guests/packages, lavish artist lounges, a spacious outdoor smoking section, and nine full service bars where guests can indulge in craft beers and specialized cocktails.” Within Radius is Cermak Hall, a 10,000 square foot multi-purpose event space with a capacity for 1,350 guests, featuring its own entrance, a full bar, and an additional stage. Cermak Hall will also be used as a pre & post-event space for guests.

Radius is owned and operated by Nick Karounos, who has been involved in live music events and nightlife in Chicago for the past 20 years. Karounos has played a major part in the Chicago music scene as an owner and operator of Concord Music Hall, the MID, and PRYSM Nightclub. Karounos saw the need for a large space that was built specifically for live events and close to the downtown area. In a press release he said; “We were looking for a scalable, multi-purpose venue space to house a state of the art concert facility with modern art and design elements at the forefront, and we’ve created it with RADIUS. This project has been 4 years in the making and we are beyond excited to show Chicago and the rest of the world what we have built for music lovers of all genres.”

Radius’ location in East Pilsen is south of The Loop, bordering Chinatown with access off I-90/94. There will be a ride-share friendly pick up zone along with a variety of parking options. Radius is accessible via various forms of public transportation (CTA), including the Halsted 8 Bus, Cermak 21 Bus, and Orange/Red/Green lines.
