Whitney, Valee, Jeremih, Grapetooth, Ric Wilson, Tasha, Dreezy, Lala Lala Represent Chicago on Pitchfork Music Festival 2019 Lineup

Pitchfork has officially announced the 2019 lineup for their 3-day music festival at Union Park, Chicago July 19-21st. Chicago continues to be well represented at the hometown festival, this year featuring indie darlings Whitney, G.O.O.D. Music signee Valee, Jeremih, Grapetooth, Ric Wilson, Tasha, Dreezy and Lala Lala. The Great Black Music Ensemble, made up of talent from Chicago-based Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians will also perform. Headliners this year include HAIM, Mavis Staples, The Isley Brothers (60th Birthday Celebration), Bell & Sebastian, Robyn and Charli XCX.

Additional performers include Pusha T, Earl Sweatshirt, a reunited Stereolab (their first tour dates in 10 years), Khruangbin, Clairo and Freddie Gibbs (collaborative album with Madlib on the way). Other notables include singer Sky Ferreira, Baltimore rapper JPEGMAFIA, genre-bender Amber Mark, rapper Rico Nasty, singer/songwriter Snail Mail, as well as bedroom-pop singer Jay Som, Japanese rock band CHAI and Nashville singer/songwriter Soccer Mommy.

Back on the local front, an anticipated moment of the festival will surely be Valee and Jeremih performing their massive 2018 hit “Womp Womp.” Whitney announced some fresh US/UK/EU tour dates for Fall 2019, begging the question — is new music on the way? With national exposure from NPR, Chicago Tribune, and Pitchfork, Tasha is looking to build on the momentum of a strong 2018 with their debut Alone at Last as the foundation. Chicago duo Grapetooth will be performing their first hometown festival off the heels of their critically-acclaimed self-titled 2018 debut (also going on North American tour). Lala Lala will be coming off tour dates with Better Oblivion Community Center, so tunes from their 2018 release The Lamb will be sounding extra sharp.
