As the year has worn on we've seen several new names rise from in and around Chicago. It appears that the impending third wave is beginning to break on the shores of Lake Michigan as a new crop of young artists continue to throttle the city further into an artistic and more specifically musical Renaissance that has continued to thrive in the wake of a recent onslaught of talent since 2012. One of the name that has surfaced with somehwat regularity has been New Kingz who earlier this week debuted another talented single in "Through The Wind" alongside Glassic and Syd Shaw.

A true testament to the duo's development, the guys teamed up with Glassic which it appears is a continuing partnership that may just result in a collaborative full-length sometime in the near future. "Through The Wind", the trio's first public work together, is a sort of nod to Kanye's iconic single of a similar title and details the thoughts and feelings of those walking our city's increasingly volatile streets. Whether it's the police or fellow citizens, bullets are flying at all hours of the day here in Chicago and it's a reality that certainly affects some more than others. If you live here and don't deal with it, consider your self lucky but don't bury your head, it's important to be conscious of all our surroundings and the day-to-day experience of our fellow Chicagoans. It's in that sense that Ali and Luke laid this one down, explaining further:

“We wanted to really display that feeling of walking through streets that you love, but aren’t necessarily safe in. Being an artist from Chicago means having to fight against an environment that wants to make sure that you can’t be. At some point you have to consciously decide that you don’t give a fuck and that you’re gonna win regardless.”
— New Kingz

It's a dope piece and one that finds increased timeliness as we find ourselves at the beginning of what could shape up to be one of the most bloody years in the city's history. Regardless of how 2016 turns out though, you can be sure our local artistry will keep pace with what's happening in our direct periphery. With all that in mind, check out "Through The Wind".
