Chance The Rapper • "Same Drugs"

Directed by Jake Schreier

Chance The Rapper’s tear is less a hot streak and more global conquest, one built on love and music. He’s just dropped the video for one of Coloring Book’s high points “Same Drugs”, a reflection on the winding and unpredictable paths life takes us on. It’s an honest look at nostalgia and the fickleness of memory, the impact choices have on us and how we look back on them. A funny context for the video, which places Chance in a grainy public TV set with some friends flown in from what looks to be Jim Henson’s studio. The video ends with Chance leaving his VHS comfort zone for a world that’s HD. The collision between visual and content here is nail on the head, and as Chance walks away from the video he can rest assured knowing he hit another one out of the park.
