Last year L.A. VanGogh released “Episode 1” of Everything is Subjective. This year he follows up with a grown and sexy follow up: “Episode 2”.

“Episode 1” focused on surviving anxiety and grappling with the unpredictability of life especially in the music industry. “Episode 2” is life after, picking up where you left off, and bossing up. From vocals, songwriting, to production, “Episode 2” is solid and meticulously concocted project that is in fact ecstasy to the ears.

“CMYH Intro” foreshadows the project with a beautiful alliteration “elated while eloping with ecstasy and on the edge of existential elevation” and transitions right into “CMYH”, a smooth reiteration of Kool & The Gang’s “Summer Madness” that is dedicated to the art of getting high. “Cause” is a cute love song that you sing along to as you think about your crush, while “Effect” is the aftermath of securing the crush. “Wants and Needs” recounts struggling in your 20s and watching everyone around you experiencing the same cycle. “Examination of Yu” details ignoring your problems and pouring them into the wrong, but more pleasurable things. “Goldmember’s Alchemy” cleverly talks about wanting success without putting in the work. “Get Off Me” pays homage to Grandmaster Flash’s “The Message” while adding a spin of Jazz.

L.A. VanGogh is truly an artist who pays attention, loves his craft, and is putting in the work. “Episode 2” is a beautiful, well-crafted project, and you would be doing a disservice to yourself if you missed his show Dec 21st at Lincoln Hall.
