Saba Announces New Project Via Red Bull Documentary
With the lead single off his forthcoming project, “Symmetry,” premiering worldwide on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show this past Thursday and a Lollapalooza set happening today, to say Saba is having an amazing week would be an understatement. What’s even more remarkable is that in between those two major career milestones he also managed to be featured in a documentary released by Red Bull that centers on Saba working on the final stages of his heavily anticipated third ‘tape.
Starting off with his residence in Los Angeles earlier in the year while recording at Red Bull’s studios and then traveling back to Chicago for a homecoming show at Double Door this month, we get a rare behind-the-scenes look at Saba’s day-to-day creative process. Cameos by Kevin Coval, Joseph Chilliams, producer Phoelix, Jay Caves and many more also provide sensible perspectives on the Austin native from those that know him best.
Amongst the highlights of the 25 minute doc there is the artistic partnership between Sab and Phoelix, a heavy-hearted story regarding his uncle and the impact he had on the project, as well as the unveiling of his project’s official title. Bucket List is lining up to be a very profound and sincere look at Saba’s life since the release of ComfortZone and the documentary allows us to take a look at a snapshot of this time. This one is definitely for his hardcore fans, but will also be entertaining for those who are just discovering one the city’s hottest prospects.
It should also be noted that the film includes a very cool Easter egg as a rough tracklist of both Noname's Telefone and Saba's Bucketlist are flashed for a few seconds. You can peep that in the side image.
