Chicago hip-hop duo Mother Nature made up of rappers Klevah & T.R.U.T.H have signed to Chicago-based independent record label Closed Sessions. Last year, Mother Nature released their 7-song album titled Saturn Return, a project that was included in our 2019 Chicago Albums of the Year. Mother Nature kicks off their new partnership with Closed Sessions by collaborating with in-house producer Boathouse on their label debut, “Naught by Nature”. The track will be featured on an upcoming Closed Sessions compilation (produced entirely by Boathouse) called Our Latest Compilation — set to release January 27th, 2020.

Closed Sessions artist roster past and present includes singer-songwriter Jack Larsen, rapper Ajani Jones, rapper Kweku Collins, rapper Femdot, producer Boathouse, singer-songwriter Jamila Woods, rapper WebsterX and DJ Rude One. Additional label alumni and collaborators include Vic Mensa, Chuck Inglish, Sir Michael Rocks, ShowYouSuck, Rockie Fresh, Thelonious Martin, ODDCOUPLE, Freddie Gibbs, Bun B, Action Bronson, Curren$y, Alex Wiley and more. Check out the label’s full catalog of releases here.

In 2019, Closed Sessions celebrated their 10th Anniversary with parties, content and the vinyl release of Closed Sessions Vol. 1, a 14-track compilation of label recordings from 2009-2010 featuring Curren$y, Tanya Morgan, Emilio Rojas, Truck North, Rapper Big Pooh (Little Brother), Kidz In The Hall, Chip Tha Ripper, Mickey Halsted, Skyzoo, Rhymefest, GLC, Bun B and more. Closed Sessions was co-founded in 2009 by Alexander Fruchter (aka DJ RTC), a longtime music blogger, lecturer and hip-hop DJ, along with Michael Kolar, a veteran recording engineer and owner of SoundScape Studios (founded in 1996).
