Red Bull Music Festival Chicago Announces 2019 Lineup and Programming

 

Red Bull Music Festival has announced the 2019 lineup and programming for the Chicago edition (Atlanta was also announced today) of their two week takeover - November 17th-30th. Featuring 35+ artists across eight shows, Red Bull continues its tradition of highlighting purpose-driven artists who are inspiring and impacting their community.

This years festival kicks off on November 17th celebrating the 50th anniversary of Chicago record store Gramaphone; featuring a dual-venue takeover of where else; Metro and Smartbar with sets by Derrick Carter, Ron Trent, Colette, DJ Heather and many more. On November 19th, Chicago social practice artist Theaster Gates curates Black Monastic, a live event inside the Garfield Park Conservatory that will explore the history of black sounds through a collaborative performance from musicians Kiara Lanier, Ben LaMar Gay, Joshua Abrams and more. Music Director for Chance The Rapper Peter CottonTale will complement Gate’s curation with Praise Break featuring The JuJu Exchange, Ron Poindexter and Jay Arnold, and more.

Lupe Fiasco will perform his classic debut studio album Food & Liqour on November 21st at The Riviera. Collective Zero Fatigue will come together at Thalia Hall on November 23rd featuring Smino, Monte Booker and surely plenty of surprise guests. Philadelphia artist Tierra Whack will bring her inventive and “psychedelic brainscape” to Concord Music Hall on November 26th. Returning to Red Bull Music Festival this year, hometown hero Jamila Woods will perform a stripped down version her latest critically acclaimed album Legacy! Legacy! at event space The Geraghty.

Finally, Red Bull Music Festival Chicago wraps up with a two-day celebration at The Metro of John Walt Day with performances from Saba and the rest of PIVOT GANG featuring Joseph Chilliams, MFnMelo and Frsh Waters.
