Phife Dawg Passes Away at 45, Kevin Coval Pays Tribute

Hip hop has lost a certifiable legend.

Malik Taylor, known to millions as Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest, passed away Tuesday at the age of 45 after a long battle with Type 1 Diabetes. Taylor's impact on the genre must not be understated. As a member of ATCQ, Phife helped usher hip hop into it's golden age, laying the groundwork for the art form to become the major piece of music's landscape that it is today. Paying tribute to his legacy, Chicago's Kevin Coval shares a piece today entitled "Brothers" which you can read below. Rest In Peace Phife.
