Looking Ahead • Mamby on the Beach 2018
At just four years old, Mamby on the Beach has quickly become my barometer for summer in Chicago. Festival season just hasn't quite begun until this youthful two-day party takes over the southside's Oakwood Beach. No shade intended for Spring Awakening, but the atmosphere and music at Mamby are a much different vibe, one I personally prefer. Ahead of this weekend, check out our ideal schedule below, but head over to mambybeach.com to see the full lineup, pick up passes if you haven't already and make a customized schedule for yourself.
Day 1
It's Saturday, you're feeling fresh and there's nothing keeping you from hitting those festival gates early. Doors open at 12:00pm at Mamby this year, and you'll want to be prompt. Get there early, pick up those passes at will call and get the lay of the land (use the map below for guidance) and check out all this years festival has to offer. Good food, beach cabanas and unique installations are all waiting for you at Oakwood beach. Making a return this year, there will be beach volleyball, yoga, water balloon fights and plenty more non-music related activities to keep you busy throughout the day between sets. We'll be bouncing back and forth between the two main stages, but also the Mixmag/Beatport Tent, Monaco sponsored Secret Garden Silent Disco and the newly added Community Stage, so planning is a must this year. In the early part of the afternoon our Chicago friends Gilligan Moss, Maceo Haymes, Joseph Chilliams and Cupcakke represent some of Saturday's local talent, but we're also pretty excited to see Louisville KY's Jack Harlow and Toronto native Grandson. It's supposed to be beautiful weather out there all day Saturday, so dress accordingly and remember to stay hydrated!
